A Seasonal Parent and Me Nature Immersion Program

Ages 18 Months to 3 Years

ABOUT SEEDS

We invite parents and caregivers with children ages 18 months to 3 years to join us in an engaging and relaxed introduction to outdoor learning, immersed in nature at Through the Trees. Each session will begin with a morning meeting, singing songs, reading books and then following the children’s lead. Activities will be offered but the little ones will ultimately decide what spurs their curiosity. We encourage parents/caregivers and children to explore our outdoor play space together or independently. So much is new for these little ones, but you will be amazed at how naturally independent play, exploration and connecting with nature come to them - and how with patience and practice you can support self-directed play. These magical mornings are a great place to make connections for your child as well as connecting with a community of like-minded parents and caregivers. Once the little ones find their freedom we encourage parents to take a step back, take a breath, and perhaps make some friendships of your own.

The program will be outdoors, rain, snow or shine unless weather is extreme, which may result in cancellation. Class size is generally limited to approximately 10-13 children.

Children must be at least 18 months old by the start of the session to join.

Meet Your Guide

MOLLY MALLET

Molly grew up in the woods, fields and waters of Piscataquis county. Years in early childhood as a director and teacher taught her that kids are at their best when given time and freedom to explore the outdoors. She loves nothing more than giving the littlest learners the tools they need to do this by inspiring confidence and curiosity. When not teaching, Molly can be found with her family exploring Casco Bay by boat, knees deep in the stream behind her house or reading a book by the woodstove with her toddler in her lap. She brings an authentic, approachable, attitude and a knack for reading the needs of those around her, tall and small. The joy she gets from working with kids is contagious.

Children become connected to the web of life by seeing the relationships between plants, insects, wildlife, and human beings...our own backyard can be the foundation of environmental education and a journey for the whole family.
