Acorns were once a staple food for many of the indigenous peoples in North America. Acorns existed in abundance (and still do in many areas), providing a nourishing food source that could be easily stored.

In this class, you will learn how to prepare and cook nutritious acorns to eat! We will discuss the different types of Oak trees, when to gather acorns, storage and processing. Help us gather, crack some open, collect the meat inside and sample some tasty acorn foods. Children and families are welcome!
